Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

Intellibus is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and productive environment for everyone involved in the Intellibus Hackathon (the "Hackathon"). This Code of Conduct sets out the standard of behavior expected of everyone who takes part.

2. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all participants, team leads, mentors, judges, volunteers, sponsor representatives, and Intellibus staff (collectively, "Attendees") for the full duration of the Hackathon, including any official Hackathon-affiliated communication channels, from event check-in through the conclusion of the award ceremony.

3. Expected Behavior

Attendees are expected to:

  • Treat all other Attendees with respect, courtesy, and professionalism, regardless of background, identity, or experience level;
  • Collaborate constructively with teammates, mentors, and judges;
  • Comply with these guidelines, the Terms and Conditions, and the Media Policy; and
  • Act honestly in the development and presentation of their Submission, consistent with the originality requirements in the Terms and Conditions.

4. Unacceptable Behavior

The following conduct is prohibited at the Hackathon:

  • Harassment of any kind, including unwelcome comments or conduct related to a person's identity, appearance, or background, and sexual harassment;
  • Discrimination, intimidation, bullying, or deliberately disruptive behavior;
  • Threats of violence or actual violence against any person;
  • Theft, damage to, or unauthorized use of another Attendee's property;
  • Dishonesty in a Submission, including plagiarism or misrepresentation of authorship, as further described in the Terms and Conditions; and
  • Any recording or photography of another Attendee that is inconsistent with the Media Policy.

5. Alcohol, Drugs, and Weapons

The Hackathon operates a strict zero-tolerance policy for the possession or use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or other illicit substances, and for the possession of weapons of any kind, at any point during the event.

6. Health and Wellbeing

The Hackathon runs continuously over a 24-hour period. Attendees are encouraged to look after their own wellbeing, including resting and staying hydrated, throughout the event, and to make use of the resting spaces and facilities made available on-site at their own discretion.

7. Reporting a Concern

Any Attendee who experiences or witnesses conduct that violates this Code of Conduct should report it as soon as possible to an on-site member of Intellibus staff, or by emailing jamaica@intellibus.com. Reports will be handled promptly and with as much discretion as the circumstances allow.

8. Enforcement

Intellibus reserves the right, in its sole and final discretion, to take any action it considers appropriate in response to a violation of this Code of Conduct, including issuing a warning, removing an Attendee from the Hackathon, disqualifying a Team and revoking its eligibility for any prize, and/or barring an individual from future Intellibus events. Decisions made under this Code of Conduct are final.

9. Relationship to Other Policies

This Code of Conduct should be read together with the Hackathon's Terms and Conditions, Media Policy, and Privacy Policy, each of which forms part of the terms governing your participation in the Hackathon.

10. Amendments

Intellibus may update this Code of Conduct from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page.
